Welcome to Great Britain Tag Rugby

Great Britain Tag Rugby is the national programme for the sport of Tag in the United Kingdom. The programme selects the best Tag Rugby players from around the country to play across different age and gender categories, united by a shared vision and set of core values.

    Selection Pathway

    Full pathway information for 2026 and 2027 available at the link below. Trials are the primary selection event for 2026 squads, while UK Tag Nationals are the primary selection event for 2027 GBTR squads.

    A brief history

    Great Britain Tag Rugby was established in 2011.

    A combined Great Britain & Ireland sent two teams (Mixed Open and Men’s Open) to attend the inaugural Tag World Cup in 2012, held in Auckland, New Zealand. Since then GBTR has established the annual British & Irish Cup, and to competes at the ITF Tag World Cup every three years.
