    A brief history

    Great Britain Tag Rugby was established in 2011.

    A combined Great Britain & Ireland sent two teams (Mixed Open and Men’s Open) to attend the inaugural Tag World Cup in 2012, held in Auckland, New Zealand. Since then GBTR has established the annual British & Irish Cup, and to competes at the ITF Tag World Cup every three years.

    Trials are the primary selection events for 2026 squads for all players.

    Great Britain achieved their biggest ever triumph in the British & Irish Cup in 2025 - can GB do it again in 2026!

    12th SEPTEMBER 2026

    UK Tag Nationals are the primary selection event for 2027 GBTR squads.

    Tag World Cup

    15th-18th OCTOBER 2026

    The flagship event will be held in Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia, with over 4,500 players and officials expect to take part.
